Kathmandu- Rabi Lamichhane’s political journey, which started on June 7, has stopped within 7 months.
Ravi’s journey, which started with the formation of the Rastriya Swatantra Party on 7th June 2078, was stopped by the Supreme Court because of 13 demands.
A complaint was filed with the election officer on October 29 against Rabi Lamichhane, who became a candidate in Chitwan Region No. 2 on October 23 from the Rastriya Swatantra Party, which was registered with the Election Commission on June 17.
“According to the prevailing constitutional arrangements and the provisions of the Acts and Regulations relating to political parties, the Election Commission has registered the party named ‘RSP’ and documented the party registration. When the party was submitted to the commission for registration, Rabi Lamichhane was selected as the chairman of the party according to the law and the necessary documents were submitted, so the registration of the party is in accordance with the law.
On November 8, Rabi Lamichhane was elected to the House of Representatives from Chitwan Region No. 2.
Yuvraj Paudel (Safal) filed a petition in the Supreme Court on November 28, demanding the cancellation of Lamichhane’s position as MP. With the Supreme Court refusing to issue an interim order on the petition filed questioning his citizenship, the way was opened for him to take the oath of parliament.
On the 4th of Push, the Rastriya Swatantra Party elected Rabi as the leader of the parliamentary party. On January 11, Pushpa Kamal Dahal made Rabi Lamichhane, the chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, the Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister in the Prachanda-led government. However, when he became the home minister, Rabi was criticized more than discussed. Rabi’s case went from the police to the Adda court and when the Supreme Court had fixed the date for the hearing on 22nd of January, it was not justified to make the Home Minister questionable.
On the 13th of March, the Supreme Court’s verdict came against Ravi. The constitutional bench of the court held that Ravi Lamichhane’s citizenship was not retained and revoked the post of MP. He was declared ineligible to become a member of Parliament because he did not complete the process of retrieving Nepalese citizenship. Along with this, Rabi became ineligible to be an MP, Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister.
Rabi Lamichhane’s term in the house was 32 days.
What did Ravi do in 32 days?
– On the day of assuming office, Lamichhane decided to conduct a judicial inquiry into the rape and murder of Nirmala Pant.
-On the second day of the Ministry meeting, the Ministry of Home Affairs instructed all the security agencies including Nepal Police, Armed Police to recall the security personnel who were engaged in the protection of various persons against the procedure within 48 hours.
– Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane, speaking at the meeting of the 25th Earthquake Safety Day Main Ceremony Committee meeting on 18th of Push, said that the reduction of seismic risk should start from oneself and instructed to immediately build an emergency exit in the meeting room of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
– On the 21st of Pus, Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Ravi Lamichhane inspected the District Administration Office Kathmandu and from Thursday, time cards were implemented in 10 types of services provided by the District Administration Office.
– On 22nd December, Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Ravi Lamichhane said that he would not meet the expectations of the citizens by walking in the high security zone, and he removed the security guard and escort vehicle.
-On January 10th, Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Dean R. Thompson, the American Ambassador to Nepal, had a courtesy call. The Home Minister’s Secretariat said that during the meeting held at the Ministry of Home Affairs, cooperation between Nepal and America and enhancement of mutual interests were discussed.
